Design tips for a PERFECT CASE:
Remember to use our 3D FoamView to proof your design!
FINGER-NOTCHES
When making your shapes, you can choose to add finger notches to assist in the removal of your items from the foam.
SPACING
We recommend leaving 1" of space between items and from case sides to ensure proper foam strength and maximize protection.
SHAPE DEPTHS
For proper padding under your items, we recommend keeping your shape depths at least 1/2" less than your case's base depth.
Items taller than the base depth can protrude into the lid, but shapes with depths greater than the case's base depth will expose the case bottom!
BASE DEPTH STUDY: Avoid Punching Through the Bottom of your Foam
Take this common case design scenario for example...
If your item is
4.5" tall and your
BASE DEPTH
is 4.5"...
...what should you put into the depth field?
RECOMMENDED: Make the depth 4.0" and your lens will safely rest on 0.5" of foam at the bottom of the case, sticking up 0.5" into the lid foam.
NOT RECOMMENDED: Make the depth 4.5" to match your item's height and it will sit on the bare bottom of the case with no padding!
A hole in your design means a hole in your foam!
What's shown in the 3D is exactly what we'll create.
